Dr K S Prabhakar is currently the Medical Director of the National Kidney Foundation of Samoa and Senior Advisor to the Minister of Health. He has also been appointed Professor of Nephrology at the Oceania University of Medicine. In the last nine years he was the consultant at the NKF Singapore dialysis program, which is acclaimed as a world class dialysis facility, dialyzing over 2000 patients in its 22 state of the art dialysis centers spanning across Singapore. During this period, Dr Prabhakar helped the developing countries like India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar and Nepal through turnkey projects which helped them to plan, setup, operate and maintain their dialysis centers.

Muagututia Dr K S Prabhakar, was honored with a High Chief title by the Government of Samoa for his relentless efforts in setting up the first ever dialysis center in Samoa. This maiden project really saw a dream metamorphosed into reality for all the Pacific Islanders in general and for all Samoans in particular. This dialysis center has since become a beacon of hope for ESRD patients in the entire Pacific islands.
